Job Description

The Chief Systems Architect Cloud role requires a candidate with extensive background in public cloud including hybrid cloud, architecting and implementing infrastructure and platform solutions in Microsoft Azure cloud and Infrastructure as Code automation across public clouds with a preference for Microsoft Azure cloud.

The Chief Architect will provide senior expertise and thought leadership to help drive the strategic development of Visa’s Cloud architecture in general and Microsoft Azure cloud in particular. This is a critical role responsible for the planning, architecture, design, development, and evolution of Visa Hybrid Cloud with focus on Azure public cloud. The successful candidate will work with various leaders across the Operations and Infrastructure, Cyber Security and Stakeholder Product Development teams to define Hybrid cloud solutions that will enable the use of Hybrid cloud infrastructure to meet the challenges of technology, regulatory, security, and competitive conditions.

The Chief Architect is a senior technologist with demonstrated experience and interest in public cloud, hybrid cloud, workload migration from private to public cloud, cloud native design and application transformation/modernization.

This position reports to the Vice President, O&I Architecture and is a key role within Visa’s O&I Architecture organization.

The candidate should have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills to effectively share your knowledge. The candidate will be leading/coordinating with teams across engineering, Cybersecurity and operations.

Essential Functions:  

  • Lead Visa’s Cloud initiative

  • Contribute to cloud platform architecture, strategy & roadmap  and manage the adoption process

  • Responsible for intake and solutioning phase of new Cloud workloads 

  • Translate the business requirement in technical requirements for the Cloud engineers and ensure cloud engineers understand what they need to build

  • Develop, and implement Cloud Solutions/applications, adhering to the compliancy and security guardrails 

  • Design and automate dedicated products and services on top of the cloud landing platform  

  • Work closely with the other cloud teams,  security  team and work pro-actively with products teams and  business teams

  • Support the Cloud platforms in the US time-zone 

  • Be evangelist of Cloud computing

  • Stay up to speed with the latest Cloud technologies

Actively participate in communities/forums/guilds on Cloud computing

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience

• BS/BA/MS in Computer Science, Comp or Electrical Engineering, Science, or Math with 10+ years of work experience
• 5 years of experience in cloud architecture, engineering or development including experience in cloud automation frameworks, public cloud infrastructure deployments and solutions large enterprises.
• Demostrated experience in implementation of public and hybrid cloud solutions with infrastructure and cloud service provisioning with automation and Infrastructure as Code solutions such as Terraform and CI/CD solutions such as Jenkins and GitHub SCM
• Excellent understanding of public cloud compute services preferably in Azure cloud
• Good understanding of public cloud database, IAM (Identity and Access Management), Data security, infrastructure security services preferably in Azure cloud
• Good understanding of Network, compute, storage, management , IAM, Databases and governance services in the public cloud landscape
• Well versed with Well Architected frameworks driving Operaton excellence, Security, Relaibility, Performance efficiency, Cost Optimization
• Experience with other public clouds like GCP and AWS
• Demonstrated experience with open-source infrastructure as code software and automation software development tools including Terraform, Terragrunt, Terraform Enterprise, Env0, Git, Jinkins, Ansible, Python, Chef, Puppet or Salt.
• Exceptional collaboration and partnership skills with the ability to work in a global environment and drive consensus in cross-functional teams

COLORADO APPLICANTS ONLY: This position has a minimum base salary of 146,500 USD and a midpoint base salary of 190,400 USD. The base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, this position is eligible for annual bonus and equity.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
