Transportation Assistant Manager (6741)
The Transportation Assistant Manager assists Transportation Services with supervision of the overall scheduling, fueling, maintenance, and dispatch of University vehicles. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
-Responsible for the University driver approval process as well as handling all University vehicle related accidents.
-Assists with the preparation of vehicle operating and maintenance reports and compilation of data for billing and audit reporting.
-Maintains relations with various University departments, vehicle users, outside service providers, and other state agencies.
-Maintains and helps to draft instructions, procedures, guidelines, and budgets in order to perform routine responsibilities.
-Assist with daily office related duties such as invoicing, bills of lading, p-card transactions, rental statements, and mail distribution.
Additional duties may be assigned in support of the department’s mission and goals.
This position is a current civil service vacancy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. This position will close to applicants at close of business, 4:30 pm CST, on the posting end date.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
1. Three years of work experience involving the dispatch of vehicles, maintenance of a fleet of vehicles, scheduling of charter trips, or other activities directly related to the operation of an automotive fleet, one year of which included supervisory duties.
2. Valid State of Illinois driver’s license at the time of appointment, the class of the license depending on the type of vehicle(s) to be operated.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Ability to organize work activities and operations.
-Skill in supervising and training persons.
-Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
-Good verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to deal effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
